I saw him when i approached that area so it wasnt a surprised. I was waling on the Champs-Élysées and when i stopped to take a photo, thats when the guy more or less ran directly to me to give me his sales pitch. I had the same thing happened to me and im an older solo male traveler. So i try to keep my distance when people approach just me especially if there are others around. I go by the motto "if they can touch you, they can pickpocket you". ![]() ![]() So you may want to "pay attention to your surroundings" and when strangers approach you - keep them at arms length. But its appears you have little street smarts but good intuition.
